Mosaic Baptist Turkey Giveaway
MOSAIC BAPTIST TURKEY GIVEAWAY AT PS 138
Jesus said there were two things truly important in life: loving God and loving one’s neighbor. It’s that second idea that animated Mosaic Baptist Church’s 3rd annual turkey giveaway at the PTA meeting of P.S. 138 on Park Place between Nostrand and Rogers Avenues. The event was organized by member Monique Brown; those who attend Mosaic collected money for 20 turkeys and purchased them from Key Food on Nostrand (Ishmael helped us with a generous discount).
Two days before Thanksgiving several volunteers from Mosaic visited the school eager to love their neighbors. John and I picked up the turkeys from the supermarket. Registered Dietician (and Mosaic Children’s Ministry Director) Salome gave a presentation on healthy food habits. Sonya, Eileen, Monique, Megan and a handful of Mosaic children met their neighbors. The Principal and Vice Principal of P.S. 138 greeted parents.
As the pastor of Mosaic, I was grateful for this wonderful opportunity to put the ideas of Jesus into practice. We can’t say that we love God if we’re not willing to love our neighbors. This Thanksgiving, the attendees of Mosaic Church were able to put their faith into action, to show they love those around them. If you’d like to meet some of your neighbors, and perhaps find a pathway to service, please join us for worship at 10:30AM every Sunday in The Black Lady Theatre at 750 Nostrand Avenue.
